Hestia Communicatie was founded in 1993 as a copywriting and translation agency, specialized in the medical and scientific field.

Nienke Groenendijk-Feenstra (1956), owner of Hestia Communicatie, is not only a science journalist, but also a certified translator of French and English into Dutch. After graduating with a master’s degree in French language and literature, she completed a study in English translation. Nienke has also taken various courses, particularly in the field of science journalism and translating.

Nienke Groenendijk is a member of several professional bodies, such as the Dutch Association of Science Journalists (VWN), and of the Dutch translators' association VZV. She is also listed in the Dutch national Register of Certified Interpreters and Translators. Furthermore, Nienke has been president of the VZV, the Dutch Association of Independent Translators, from 2009-2011.
